Lisse Council Lisse Council is a medium to large council in the Netherlands with approximately 200 employees. In 2007, Lisse had over-aged ICT infrastructure and because of that they were vulnerable. If anything happened, their services would partly or fully stop working. Lisse decided to hire Commit-IT. The ICT Manager of Lisse, Henk Bakker says, “In the last couple of years we have had a cooperation with Commit-IT. They have knowledge of their business and can handle situations in a very quick timeframe. We appreciate this because we make on the spot decisions and Commit-IT knows how to deal with those decisions”. Lisse does not stand still but continually innovates and optimizes, where Commit-IT functions as a critical partner. Recently, the server infrastructure (20 servers) virtualized with VMware, the desktops were enrolled with software virtualization Symantec SVS and Scense to centralize the desktop management. The complex network was pushed to a higher level by dividing the servers from the clients and implementation of a Core, distribution and Edge layer. Prior to that, was a migration of Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 and from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003. Lisse is aware of the need for security measures to protect sensitive information and infrastructure so that the (e-) service is not affected. This is only made more important in view of the progressive attitude of Lisse in the field of digital services to its citizens. Lisse implemented a number of securities solutions, together with Commit-IT, to minimize the risks. Employees of Lisse wanted to work from home and to do so in a safe way, Lisse made use of a tele-working solution (SSL VPN) token for authentication. The ICT department is not capable of managing the complete infrastructure and solutions. That is why Commit-IT manages several of the proactive and reactive components, such as the Sonicwall Firewall and Sonicwall SSL/VPN. In addition, Commit-IT supports Lisse with the service desk task, system management and network management. “Before we worked together with Commit-IT, we had a huge backlog and now everything is under control. The biggest advantage is the continuity. Before it was normal to solve the problems when the accident happened, now we are capable of preventing the problems.” Says Bakker.
